EDTC 807 Implementation and Evaluation of Curriculum

This course will provide candidates with a comprehensive understanding of the landscape of implementation and evaluation of educational technology programs. The philosophies, methods, and processes of curriculum design in educational technology will provide the framework for curricular models; resources for decision-making; and evaluation methods for educational and corporate settings.

Short Paper: Historical Background

You must address 8 concepts/ideas and provide evidence that supports Hirsch’s theory and his critic’s theory for each idea.  Each piece of evidence should be no more than 50-100 words. (Being able to succinctly communicate abstract ideas is vital for Doctoral students).

Informal Learning (TikTok)

Pick a trend in informal learning (e.g. educational apps, board games, podcasts, Tik Tok, maker spaces, language learning, Lynda.com, meetup.com, etc).   Research the history, theory, context of this activity or trend. (3-5 pages)

The working definition of informal education is any learning activity done outside of the boundaries of a formal educational system.

Curriculum Implementation Plan

Develop a proposal to implement a technology-related curriculum in an educational setting.  This could be a unit, a course, a statewide initiative, an after-school program.  Give an overview of this initiative and a rationale for its importance (2-3 pages), a systems-based proposal for implementation (1-3 pages) and an evaluation plan (including possible scenarios and vignettes of a successful implementation) (2-3 pages), a reflection on how this work relates to selected readings in the class (1 pages).
